[Naturally grown] Asakura Oil EVOS (Extra Virgin Olive Oil Single Estate) ◆New 2022 harvest
Reiko Asakura of Asakura Farm owns her own olive grove in Penne, Abruzzo, Italy, where the olives are grown naturally without the use of any pesticides or fertilizers, and this rare single-variety olive oil is made entirely from the native Dilitta olive variety.
While regular olive oil is made by blending multiple olives to achieve a balanced flavor, Asakura Oil uses only one variety of olive.
This brings out the individuality of the Dilitta and gives it a unique flavor. It is a rare oil made from only one whole variety. Grown in a natural environment, the oil's aroma and flavor change every year.
This time we are delivering new olive oil from the 2022 harvest.
◆Oil manufacturing
Asakura Oil is harvested when the olives are slightly ripe, and brought to the oil mill as is to make oil before the olives start to deteriorate. When the olives ripen early, less oil is extracted than usual, but we prioritized shortening the time from harvest to extraction in pursuit of quality. The oil is then separated using a cold extraction method that does not exceed 28°C, and the oil is finally bottled as is without filtration. This prevents the flavor and various ingredients from being damaged by heat. The pulp is still mixed in, resulting in a cloudy, thick oil.
◆Characteristics of Asakura Oil
The taste is green and fresh with a strong spicy flavor. The flavor of the olives themselves is strong, and even a small amount is enough to give you a high level of satisfaction. Because it is unfiltered, the pulp gets in, so you can enjoy the changing flavors as it matures by opening it at different times.
◆Producer: Reiko Asakura
The creator of "Asakura Oil" is Reiko Asakura, who imports and sells olive oil with the concept of "connecting people who make real products with people who eat them." She was so impressed by the deliciousness of the food she ate at a farm guesthouse in Italy and the homemade olive oil that she decided to sell the oil in Japan. One day in Italy, she came across a neglected but lush olive field, which she named "Asakura Farm" and practices carefully growing olives using natural cultivation. In Japan, she travels around the country demonstrating how to prepare olive oil, and word of mouth has spread about her passion, fun personality, and the reputation of her delicious olive oil, and there are fans all over the country who look forward to Asakura's oil every year.
