Yubeni is a variety that was created in Kumamoto Prefecture about 15 years ago.
Naturally grown strawberries are limited in number, but we want Purely's customers to have the chance to try these rare strawberries, so we have decided to stock them on a pre-order only basis!

It has been 20 years since Purely opened. We have been searching for a strawberry farmer who practices natural cultivation. Growing strawberries through natural cultivation is very difficult, and as far as we know, there are no farmers who have succeeded in doing so. However, we heard that there is a farmer who grows strawberries through natural cultivation in Kumamoto Prefecture, where our store is located, so we immediately went to visit the production area!



Nagamine-san has been growing crops using only natural farming methods since his grandfather's generation, and at that time he grew vegetables, rice, and pears.
Nagamine-san had been working in a non-farming job, but after his grandfather passed away nine years ago, he returned to his hometown of Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
At first, he never thought about growing strawberries organically, and first helped out a nearby livestock farmer. However, seven years ago, he accepted his grandfather's wishes and decided to take over the farm with his mother and make a living as a farmer. While continuing to use the remaining rice paddies and fields, he himself wanted to try his hand at growing strawberries, so he started growing strawberries organically.

When he first started, there were many cases where the plants were completely wiped out. There was also considerable damage from aphids, which start to multiply from November. After he started trying to grow strawberries, in the third or fourth year, the strawberries did not bear fruit and were close to being completely wiped out. He was very worried and thought about whether he should continue growing strawberries like this. However, he knew that if he gave up, he would have to persevere and persevere, and with the thought in his heart that he would try again from the beginning, he continued his challenge to grow strawberries naturally.

Having overcome that difficult experience, it's now been seven years since I started growing strawberries naturally.
The yield has steadily increased, and they are now able to harvest large, healthy strawberries that are resistant to insects and disease.
