These items cannot be ordered together with regular products. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we ask that you place separate orders.

2) Mr. Nishida harvests peaches at the optimal time for them to grow.

Naturally grown "Hanayome" peaches are carefully packed and shipped in a special box.
*The photo shows 5 pieces, but the number varies depending on the harvest season. Each package contains approximately 500g.

Nishida has been engaged in natural fruit cultivation in Gyokuto Town, Kumamoto Prefecture since 2007.
For many years, they have been engaged in the natural cultivation of fruit trees such as peaches, honey rosas (plums), Taishu persimmons, and gold kiwis, something that was once said to be "impossible" to do without pesticides.
This year, Nishida Orchard will be stocking the ever-popular "naturally grown peaches" Hanayome!
This is a popular item with limited quantities, so please make your reservation early.

熊本県西田さんの自然栽培桃 Nishida-san calls out to the peaches. How about trying them as is, as compote, or as peach sangria?

<Visit to Nishida Orchard>
This year I helped with the bagging work.
The bags have two functions: 1) to ensure that the color is evenly distributed and 2) to protect the rice from animals.
I thought we would just put bags over the peaches, but this is the time to pick the fruit, so I had a hard time deciding which peaches to keep and which to drop.
Nishida had carefully grown the peaches and they had finally borne fruit, so I wondered if it was okay to drop them, and it just took a long time.

However, fruit thinning is also done to ensure that the fruit is of an appropriate size for shipping, so it is an important task for humans to eat.

熊本県西田さんの自然栽培桃 Peaches wrapped in bags The white bags scatter light, giving the peaches a beautiful color.

Generally, fruit thinning is done at a rate of one fruit for every 30 leaves, but at Nishida Orchard, the rate is one fruit for every 20 leaves.
In general, peaches (especially white peaches) are considered to be good quality in the market if they are large and white, and so the emphasis is on growing each peach as large as possible. After thinning, the number of peaches is reduced, and the remaining peaches are adjusted so that more nutrients are available. Of course, fertilizer is often used to grow them larger and with a higher sugar content.
At Nishida Orchard, the number of peaches after thinning is greater than that of regular peaches, so the nutrients are dispersed and the peaches are smaller in size. However, because no chemicals are used, some of the peaches are eaten by animals or damaged even after being bagged, so only half of the peaches are actually harvested. We learned this reality through our own experience.
As a result, about 50-80 peaches can be harvested from each tree, and from those, they are selected to check for insects and that the size is appropriate, so the number that can actually be shipped is reduced... With that in mind, the peaches that arrive at Purely are the tree's best!

When you visit actual production sites, you can see how effective fertilizers and pesticides are in providing food for humans, but producers who choose natural farming all choose to cultivate in a way that respects nature, saying, "We want to connect this to a brighter future."

Even though we live in a cramped environment due to the coronavirus, I think the reason why coming to a natural farming site makes me feel at peace is because I feel connected to a bright future.

熊本県西田さんの自然栽培桃 Peach compote

3 peaches (150-200g)
500ml water
100g organic sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice

1. Wash the peaches thoroughly and remove any surface fuzz (this will be used to simmer the peaches with the skin on, so that the skin color can be transferred to the flesh).
② Make a cut in the center of the peach and cut it into two. Use a spoon to remove the seeds.
3. Put water and sugar in a pot and heat over medium heat. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the peaches, cover with a lid, and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the lemon juice and remove from the heat.
4. Allow to cool, then remove the peach skins and place in a container in the refrigerator.

It will last for about a week if refrigerated, or about a month if frozen.
If you freeze it, the texture will change, so use it in smoothies or sorbets.
If you process it into a compote, it can be used in a variety of desserts.

Peach Sangria

3 peaches (150-200g)
300ml white wine

1. Make a cut in the center of the peach and cut it into two. Use a spoon to remove the seeds.
2) Peel the peaches, transfer them to a clean container and pour in white wine so that they are completely covered.
③ Chill in the refrigerator for about 2 hours and the peach aroma will transfer to the white wine, giving it a refreshing taste.

You can add fruits other than peaches to your liking, or add sugar or honey to soften the acidity of the white wine to make it milder.
It's easy to drink even when mixed with carbonated water or cider, and is recommended for the coming season.
The remaining peach flesh can be eaten as is or processed further for delicious results.
