Naturally grown turnips by Mr. Fukumoto of Kagoshima Prefecture

We received some naturally grown turnips from Fukumoto-san in Minamisatsuma, Kagoshima! Fukumoto-san is 24 years old and after working for an organic farming corporation, he started farming in Minamisatsuma, Kagoshima in 2016. Since his first year, he has been growing turnips, taro, eggplant, spinach, radishes, and more without fertilizer or pesticides.

During our visit to the production area, we were shown mainly turnip, spinach, and radish fields.

The field, which had been abandoned for many years, was blessed with fertile black soil. Perhaps because it had used less fertilizer and pesticides in the past, the soil was soft and comfortable.

When I tried digging, I was able to easily dig about 1 meter by hand.

From the very beginning, he has had the lofty aspiration that "anything other than pesticide-free agriculture is possible," and has been working on environmentally friendly agriculture.

Since learning about natural farming through his connection with Purely, he has been trying his hand at natural farming while also working on improving his soil.
