Yosuke Nakao of Kyokushien is engaged in the cultivation and production of tea in the naturally rich Kyokushi area of Kikuchi City in the northern part of Kumamoto Prefecture.
As the third generation tea farmer, he follows the teachings of his predecessors of "own garden, own production, own sales," and continues to cherish "making tea that pleases customers."
Nakao himself says that when he was young, he didn't want to take over the family business.

However, when he went to a tea farm in Shizuoka for training, he was moved by the enthusiasm for tea of the trainees there and decided to take over the family business. To this day, he has been devoted to tea.
He has been practicing natural farming since 1989, and says, "When you practice natural farming, you can visibly see the tea plants become healthier, and I myself feel at ease when working in the tea plantation.
Because we do not rely on pesticides or fertilizers, the tea plants build their own bodies to resist disease and insects.
"I would like to keep an eye on the tea plants, observing their strength and even considering giving them a rest from time to time to ensure the longevity of the tea," he says, working closely with them to ensure the quality of the tea.
Nakao-san has a gentle expression in the tea plantation, but when he is in the tea factory, his expression changes to that of a craftsman.

"Naturally grown tea leaves are not protected by pesticides or fertilizers, so they harden to protect themselves.

For this reason, we use a method called "steamed green tea" to make the most of the characteristics of the tea leaves. For this, we pick the tender new leaves early so they don't get too mushy, and then steam them to remove the water from the core of the leaves, then roll them firmly to make the tea.

The fragrant aroma of young buds and a clean aftertaste...Kyokushien tea is made with Mr. Nakao's dedication, solid technique and experience.

In recent years, he has also started working on black tea, which has been well received among his fellow traders!
It has a chocolate-like aroma, wine red color, and a gentle taste.
It is also recommended for those who don't like black tea as it doesn't put a strain on the stomach.
Ginger tea is popular during the cold season!
Ginger and black tea will warm you up both body and mind.

Nakao-san grows healthy tea without using fertilizers or pesticides.

Please enjoy the mellow aroma and refreshing taste.
