[Rolled barley made from naturally grown barley by Tomita of Kikuchi City]

Shichijo-cho, Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. This area is nationally famous as one of Japan's leading rice producing areas, and Mr. Tomita has been engaged in natural rice cultivation and field farming for many years here.

Inspired by the teachings of Mokichi Okada, the founder of natural farming, he has been growing rice without fertilizer or pesticides for the past 40 years.

Due to its high quality, Tomita's rice is so popular that it sells out as soon as the new rice is released.

Mr. Tomita is a producer who is working hard to promote environmental conservation agriculture, not only rice cultivation but also field crops, as the first chairman of the Kyushu block of the National Natural Farming Promotion Association in Shichijo-cho, Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, where environmental conservation agriculture is thriving.

The mineral-rich characteristics of Shichijo Town are utilized in rice production.

This is the special pressed barley made from Tomita's naturally grown barley. Every year, he continues to harvest his own seeds, and removes the husk and bran from this precious barley that is grown without fertilizer or pesticides, and then polishes it. It is then carefully heated and dried in a special machine.

Add 1 tablespoon per cup of rice and cook together to make delicious mixed grain rice. Boil in plenty of boiling water over low heat for about 15 minutes to give the rice a chewy texture.

It's delicious as a salad topping, in soup, or cooked with tomatoes and consommé for a risotto-like dish. Please try it in a variety of ways.

Tomita's black rice and six-grain rice are also popular.
